Examination Structure

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) for admission to the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. For the 2026 cycle, the examination follows a specific structure designed to test quantitative, logical, and verbal skills.
Core Examination Structure

The JIPMAT 2026 is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted in a single shift. The exam is administered entirely in English. Candidates are given a total of 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) to complete the paper. One of the most significant features of this exam is that there is no sectional time limit, meaning you can navigate between the three sections freely during the 150-minute window.

Sectional Breakdown

The exam consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) divided into three distinct sections:

  • Quantitative Aptitude : This section contains 33 questions. It primarily focuses on mathematics up to the Class 10 level, covering topics like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Number Systems.

  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning : This section also contains 33 questions. It tests your ability to interpret data from charts and graphs, as well as your logical deduction skills through puzzles, series, and arrangements.

  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension : This is the largest section with 34 questions. It evaluates English proficiency through grammar, vocabulary, and the ability to comprehend and infer information from written passages.

Marking Scheme

The NTA follows a standardized marking system to calculate the raw score, which is then used for the final merit list:

  • Correct Response : You will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer.

  • Incorrect Response : There is a negative marking penalty. 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

  • Unattempted Questions : No marks are given or deducted for questions left blank.

The total maximum marks for the examination is 400.
