Selection Process

Step 1 : Online Application & Eligibility Screening

  • Application Submission : Candidates must submit their applications exclusively through the online portal at [https://rect.crpf.gov.in](https://rect.crpf.gov.in) within the stipulated window (from 12 October, 2026 to 11 November, 2026).

  • Mandatory Document Upload : Before applying, candidates must create a profile on the recruitment website and upload copies of their sports discipline certificates in support of their highest medal, position, or level of participation. Applications lacking uploaded sports certificates will be summarily rejected during initial scrutiny.

  • Application Fee : Male candidates belonging to the Unreserved (UR), OBC, and EWS categories must pay an application fee of Rs. 100/- online. Female candidates, SC, ST, and Ex-servicemen are completely exempted from the fee.

  • Admit Card Issuance : Online admit cards are issued only to candidates whose online applications and uploaded documents are found to be in order.

Step 2 : Identity Check & Biometric Capture

  • Biometric Verification : Before the start of any documentation or testing, all reporting candidates must undergo an identity check, which includes capturing their biometrics (such as thumb impressions, digital photographs, and Aadhaar-based identification) to prevent impersonation.

  • Mandatory Identification Proof : Candidates must carry at least one original photo-bearing identification proof (e.g., Driving License, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, University/College ID, or PAN Card) to all recruitment venues.

Step 3 : Documentation (Scrutiny of Certificates)

  • Production of Original Documents : Candidates who report for recruitment must produce all original documents and certificates before the Recruitment Board. This includes :

    • Matriculation or 10th-class certificate for verification of date of birth and name.

    • Educational qualification certificates (such as 10+2 for Head Constable posts).

    • Sports achievement certificates and sports merit certificates signed by the respective authorized bodies (Annexures J through N).

    • Caste or category certificates (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, or EWS valid for 2026-2027 in the exact prescribed format, with crucial date up to 11 September, 2026).

    • Domicile certificate and height/chest relaxation certificates (Annexure I), if applicable.

    • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer for candidates currently serving in Government/Semi-Government departments (Annexure A).

    • Four latest passport-size photographs identical to the one submitted with the online application.

  • Verification and Retention : The Board scrutinizes original documents; once satisfied, original documents are returned on the spot, while self-attested photocopies are retained with the application file. Candidates unable to produce original documents are immediately eliminated from the recruitment process.

Step 4 : Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • Measurement Execution : Candidates who qualify through documentation undergo the Physical Standard Test to check height, chest (for males), and weight standards.

  • Height Standards :

    • General Male: 170 cm | General Female: 157 cm (Relaxations apply for specific categories, Scheduled Tribes, North-Eastern states, and hill regions like Himachal Pradesh, Garhwal, Dogras, etc., ranging down to 157 cm for males and 147.5 cm for females).

  • Chest Standards (Male Only) :

    • Unexpanded: 80 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm (Relaxed standards apply for STs, hill regions, and specific designated states/tribes down to 76 cm or 78 cm).

  • Weight Standards : Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards outlined in Annexure-D.

  • Appeal Provision : Candidates declared non-qualified in height and chest measurements may file an appeal on the very same day to the nominated appellate authority, whose decision is final.

  • Female Pregnancy Protocol : Female candidates must submit a self-declaration regarding pregnancy status. If a candidate declares pregnancy, a confirmatory test is conducted; if positive, she is declared temporarily unfit, her vacancy is kept reserved, and her PST/medical evaluation is deferred until six weeks post-confinement.

Step 5 : Sports Trial Test

  • Proficiency Assessment : Candidates who qualify in the PST proceed to the Sports Trial Test for their respective sports disciplines, conducted by a Board of Officers.

  • Mandatory Qualification : The trial test evaluates actual sports performance and motor qualities (strength, speed, agility, flexibility, endurance, and skill). Failing the trial test results in immediate disqualification from recruitment.

  • Scoring Note : No marks are awarded for the trial test itself; it functions as a qualifying benchmark, and candidates may be subjected to a dope test on the day of the trial.

Step 6 : Merit List Formulation

  • Scoring Table : Merit is compiled based on marks awarded for the candidate's single highest medal or level of participation achieved between 30 September, 2024 and 30 September, 2026 (as per the official point matrix for Olympic, World, Asian, National, Inter-University, or Khelo India competitions). Separate competitions or multiple medals in the same event are not cumulative; only the single highest-scoring achievement counts.

  • Tie-Breaking Protocol : If candidates secure identical scores, ties are resolved sequentially through the following criteria :

    1. Higher achievement/position in National competitions (if international achievements are tied).

    2. Candidate older in age is given priority.

    3. Alphabetical order of the candidate's name in English.

Step 7 : Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

  • Medical Fitness Assessment : Shortlisted candidates from the merit list undergo a Detailed Medical Examination conducted by constituted Medical Boards to check general health, bodily structure, and absence of constitutional weaknesses.

  • Key Medical Criteria :

    • Minimum distant vision must be 6/6 and 6/9 for both eyes without correction (glasses/lasik surgery restrictions apply).

    • Absolute disqualification for colour blindness, knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, or squint eyes.

    • Strict regulations on tattoos (permitted only on traditional sites like the left forearm/dorsum of hands for religious symbols/figures, covering less than a specified size portion).

Step 8 : Review Medical Examination (RME)

  • Appeal for Unfitness : Candidates declared unfit during the DME are informed of the reasons in writing (Annexure-P).

  • Consent and Re-examination : Candidates who wish to appeal must submit their written consent for a Review Medical Examination within 24 hours of receiving their unfitness notice. RME is conducted in continuation of the DME, preferably on the next day, to make a final determination of medical fitness.
