Stage-I Exam Pattern

How to Apply?

• Step 1 : Create an Account — Access the official RRB application website ([https://www.rrbapply.gov.in](https://www.rrbapply.gov.in)) and complete the one-time registration process using a valid mobile number and email ID, ensuring utmost accuracy since these credentials cannot be changed later.

• Step 2 : Log In & Select RRB — Log into the application portal using your account credentials and choose only one specific Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) to apply for, keeping in mind that the chosen RRB cannot be modified later.

• Step 3 : Fill Personal & Educational Details — Enter your accurate personal information, community details, and required educational qualifications into the online application form, verifying everything carefully before proceeding.

• Step 4 : Authenticate Identity — Authenticate your identity digitally using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during the application flow to streamline verification, or use an alternate photo ID if preferred.

• Step 5 : Capture Live Photograph — Follow the on-screen guidelines to capture a live photograph directly through your computer or mobile camera against a pure plain white background without a cap, mask, or glasses.

• Step 6 : Upload Required Documents — Upload a scanned copy of your signature in JPG/JPEG format (black ink on white paper, running handwriting) and your SC/ST certificate in PDF format if requesting a free train travel pass.

• Step 7 : Specify Post & Zone Preferences — Select your order of post preferences and railway zone/production unit options under your chosen RRB based on your eligibility and interest.

• Step 8 : Review & Submit Application — Review all filled details thoroughly on the preview page because no corrections will be allowed after final submission, and then submit the application form.

• Step 9 : Pay Examination Fee — Proceed to pay the prescribed examination fee online using internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI, ensuring your application gets successfully finalized upon fee receipt confirmation.

• 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) : A common screening test comprising 100 objective-type questions (Mathematics: 30, General Intelligence & Reasoning: 30, General Awareness: 40) for a duration of 90 minutes, with a negative marking of $1/3$rd mark for every wrong answer.

• 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) : Shortlisting is done at 15 times the community-wise vacancies based on 1st Stage CBT normalized scores. This stage consists of 120 questions (Mathematics: 35, General Intelligence & Reasoning: 35, General Awareness: 50) for 90 minutes, featuring $1/3$rd negative marking.

• Document Verification (DV) : Candidates equal to the exact number of vacancies (1:1 ratio) are shortlisted based on their merit performance in the CBTs to verify original educational, community, and identity documents.

• Medical Examination (ME) : Final selection is strictly subject to candidates successfully passing the prescribed medical fitness standards (such as A-2, B-2, or C-2 depending on the opted post) conducted by the Railway Administration.
