The upper age-limit of 30 years will be relaxable upto 35 years in the case of Government servants
Relaxation in Upper Age Limit for Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs) / Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs), who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1 st January, 2027 and have been released (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due) to be completed within one year from 1 st January, 2027 otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or (ii) on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or (iii) on invalidment.

Relaxation in Upper Age Limit for ECOs/ SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1 st January, 2027and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and they will be released on three months’ notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.

Educational Qualification

For admission to the examination, a candidate must have – 
  • (a) obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
  • (b) passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or
  • (c) obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or
  • (d) passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or
  • (e) passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
  • (f) passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959
 Provided that a candidate for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’ may possess any of the above qualifications or the qualification mentioned below namely:-
For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engg. Posts) – M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
For Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’– M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a subject or Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication or Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.

  • Review Detailed Instructions : Read the general, profile-wise, and document uploading instructions carefully available on the portal's menu bar.

  • Create Account and Get URN : Complete the initial account creation module to generate your permanent Universal Registration Number (URN).

  • Provide Photo ID Details : Enter your valid photo identification details (such as [Aadhaar Redacted], Voter Card, PAN, or Passport) during URN profile creation.

  • Fill Common Application Form : Complete the Common Application Form (CAF) module by submitting personal details, date of birth, category, and educational qualifications.

  • Capture Live Photo and Upload : Upload a scanned passport-size photograph, capture a live photograph, and upload clear black-ink signatures on white paper.

  • Submit Exam Specific Module : Fill out the examination-specific module by selecting your preferred engineering discipline and examination centre.

  • Pay Examination Fee : Submit the requisite fee of ₹200 online via net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI, noting that female, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are exempt.

  • Verify and Finalize Submission : Review all entered information thoroughly, submit the application before 06:00 P.M. on 06.10.2026, and retain copies of the URN and Application Number.

Selection Process

  • Stage-I : Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination

    • Format : Objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions)

    • Papers :

      • Paper-I : General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (200 Marks | 2 Hours)

      • Paper-II : Engineering Discipline-Specific (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics & Telecommunication) (300 Marks | 3 Hours)

    • Total Marks : 500 Marks

    • Note : Serves as a screening test to shortlist candidates for the Main examination. There is a penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers.

  • Stage-II : Engineering Services (Main) Examination

    • Format : Conventional (Descriptive) written examination to evaluate deep technical understanding and problem-solving skills.

    • Papers : Two conventional papers specific to the candidate's engineering discipline (300 Marks each | 3 Hours per paper).

    • Total Marks : 600 Marks

  • Stage-III : Personality Test (Interview)

    • Format : Face-to-face interview conducted by a UPSC board.

    • Total Marks : 200 Marks

    • Focus : Assesses leadership qualities, mental alertness, initiative, intellectual curiosity, tact, social qualities, and overall integrity of character for engineering services.

Final Merit & Qualification

The final merit list is compiled out of 1,300 total marks by combining the scores obtained in the Main Examination (600 marks) and the Personality Test (200 marks), alongside qualifying the Preliminary Examination (500 marks). Final service allocation depends on rank, category, service preferences, and medical fitness standard.
