How to Apply

• 1. Review Eligibility Criteria : Carefully check the advertisement to ensure you fulfill all essential qualifications, experience, and age limit requirements (as of 30 June, 2026) for the specific post code you intend to apply for.
• 2. Prepare Necessary Documents : Gather self-attested photocopies of your Date of Birth certificate, educational certificates/mark sheets, experience certificates (if any), and relevant category certificates (SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwBD / Ex-Serviceman, if applicable).
• 3. Arrange Application Fee (if applicable) : Obtain a Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- in favour of "Director, National Physical Laboratory" payable at New Delhi. Note : SC / ST / PwBD / Women / CSIR Employees / Transgender candidates are exempted from the fee.
• 4. Prepare Photographs and Draft Details : Paste a recent passport-size color photograph on the application form (Part I) and sign across it in full. Paste another photograph on Part II of the form without signing across it. Write your name and the applied Post Code on the back of the Demand Draft.
• 5. Complete the Application Form : Fill out the application form completely, ensuring all information is accurate and fully supported by your documents.
• 6. Submit the Application by Post : Send your completed application along with the required documents and the Demand Draft in an envelope superscribed with "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF TECHNICIAN (1) - (Post Code No.____)" to : "Senior Controller of Administration, CSIR National Physical Laboratory, Dr. K.S. Krishnan Marg, New Delhi-110012". The following details must be filled out on the back side of the Demand Draft: (i) Candidate's Name, (ii) Post Code Applied for.
• Important : The application must reach the laboratory on or before 30 June, 2026. Incomplete applications or those received after the closing date will not be entertained.

Selection Process

• Screening Process : Applications are first reviewed by a duly constituted Screening Committee to shortlist candidates based on criteria adopted by the committee.

• Trade Test : Shortlisted candidates are invited for a qualifying Trade Test in their relevant trade or discipline.

• Competitive Written Examination : Candidates who qualify in the Trade Test are invited to take a competitive written examination consisting of three papers (Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III).

• Evaluation of Papers : Paper-I is qualifying in nature; Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for those candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I.

• Final Merit List : The final merit list is prepared based on the total marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III.
