Educational Qualification

• Essential Qualification :

  • Three years Diploma in an Engineering discipline relevant to the specific post/department from a recognized Institution/University, OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / B.Tech.) in Engineering/Technology in the respective/allied discipline from a recognized University.

• Discipline Mapping Overview (Annexure-A) :

  • Mechanical & Allied : Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Industrial, Machining, Tools and Machining, Tools and Die Making engineering streams.

  • Electrical & Allied : Electrical engineering or a combination of basic streams of Electrical engineering.

  • Electronics & Allied : Electronics, Instrumentation and Control, Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology streams.

  • Civil & Allied : Civil engineering or a 3-year B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering.

2. Depot Material Superintendent (DMS)

• Essential Qualification :

  • Three years Diploma in any Engineering discipline from a recognized Institution/University.

  • Candidates possessing other educational qualifications not explicitly listed in the standard engineering charts who are otherwise eligible for DMS must select an appropriate Exam Group (other than CMA) during online registration.

3.Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) (Added via Corrigendum-1)

• Essential Qualification (Annexure-A - Cat. No. 38) :

  • B.Sc. Degree in Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized University/Institute, along with any of the following combinations :

    1. B.Sc. with Physics as a major/specialization/Honours subject and Chemistry as a subsidiary/pass subject.

    2. B.Sc. with Chemistry as a major/specialization/Honours subject and Physics as a subsidiary/pass subject.

    3. B.Sc. with any other Science subject (including Mathematics/Mathematical Statistics) as a major/specialization/Honours subject, provided both Physics and Chemistry were studied as subjects in the course.

How to Apply?

• Official Portal Visit : Step 1 : Open the official Railway Recruitment Board application website at rrbapply.gov.in.

• Notification Selection : Step 2 : Locate and select CEN No. 04/2026 for Junior Engineer, DMS, and CMA recruitment.

• New Account Creation : Step 3 : Click on New Registration and input your active mobile number and email ID to verify via OTP.

• Candidate Login : Step 4 : Use your newly generated registration credentials (or existing credentials from previous RRB cycles) to log into the portal.

• Post Selection : Step 5 : Choose your preferred RRB Zone, examination language, and specific post-category preferences based on your eligibility.

• Form Filling : Step 6 : Enter all required personal details, academic qualifications, and discipline information accurately.

• Document Uploads : Step 7 : Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph, signature, and necessary category or educational certificates.

• Fee Payment : Step 8 : Pay the prescribed application fee securely using net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI options.

• Final Submission : Step 9 : Review the complete application preview carefully, submit the form, and download or print a confirmation copy for your records.

Selection Process

• Stage 1 - (First Stage CBT) : Screening test consisting of 100 objective-type questions covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science, held for a duration of 90 minutes.

• Stage 2 - (Second Stage CBT) : Discipline-specific technical test comprising 150 questions (including technical abilities, computer basics, and environment/pollution control) for a duration of 120 minutes, used for final merit shortlisting.

• Stage 3 - (Document Verification) : Shortlisting of candidates based on their performance in the Second Stage CBT and post preferences to verify original academic, community, and identity credentials.

• Stage 4 - (Medical Examination) : Final fitness assessment conducted by railway medical authorities to ensure candidates meet the specific medical standards required for their allocated engineering department.
