Educational Qualification

General Mandatory Requirements Across All Subjects

Every candidate applying for any TGT post must fulfill the following general criteria alongside subject-specific qualifications :

1. Training Qualification : A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from a course recognized by NCTE in India (Note: Physical Education requires a B.P.Ed. or B.P.E. degree).

2. Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) : Successfully passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (T.E.T.) for the upper primary level (Classes 6 to 8) conducted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh or the Government of India.

Subject-Wise Educational Qualifications

1. Hindi

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Hindi as a subject from a recognized university/institution established by law in India with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

• Additional Requirement : Intermediate with Sanskrit as a subject, OR passed the Uttar Madhyama examination from the UP Sanskrit Education Council.

2. English

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with English Literature from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

3. Mathematics

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

4. Commerce

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree in Commerce from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

5. Music Singing

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Music as a subject from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

• Alternative : Sangeet Visharad from Bhatkhande Music College OR Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, along with a Bachelor's degree (min. 50% marks) or Master's degree (min. 45% marks) from a recognized university/institution. (Note: No quality points are allotted for Sangeet Visharad or Sangeet Prabhakar).

6. Sanskrit

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Sanskrit as a subject from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

7. Urdu

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Urdu as a subject from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

8. Home Science

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Home Science as a subject from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

9. Physical Education

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks or a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university/institution.

• Training Qualification : A B.P.Ed. or B.P.E. degree from a course recognized by NCTE.

10. Social Science

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree from a recognized university/institution with any two of the following subjects: History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics, securing a minimum of 50% marks in graduation overall, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks in any one of those two qualifying subjects.

11. Art

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Art as a subject with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university/institution.

• Alternative : Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a minimum of 50% marks, or a Master's degree in Fine Arts with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university/institution.

• Training Note : Requires a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from an NCTE-recognized university/institution.

12. Agriculture

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree in Agriculture / Horticulture with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university/institution.

13. Sewing / Tailoring

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree in Fashion Designing with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university/institution.

14. Commercial Art

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks or a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university/institution, AND a Diploma in Fine Arts or Commercial Art including Commercial Art (রंजन कला) from a recognized Art School in India (such as Madras, Calcutta, Lucknow, Bombay, and Shantiniketan).

15. Science

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Physics and Chemistry as subjects with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks in either of these two subjects from a recognized university/institution.

16. Biology

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Zoology and Botany as subjects with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks in either of these two subjects from a recognized university/institution.

17. Music Instrumental

• Academic Qualification : Bachelor's degree with Music as a subject from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 50% marks, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

• Alternative: Sangeet Visharad from Bhatkhande Music College OR Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, along with a Bachelor's degree (min. 50% marks) or Master's degree (min. 45% marks) from a recognized university/institution. (Note: No quality points are allotted for Sangeet Visharad or Sangeet Prabhakar).

Important Cutoff Date Note

• Candidates must possess a valid passing certificate for the required educational eligibility tests/qualifications on or before June 30, 2027.

How to Apply?

• Official Website Access : Visit the official portal of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission at www.upessc.up.gov.in.

• One Time Registration (OTR) : Complete the mandatory One Time Registration (OTR) process on the website before proceeding to the application form.

• Login to Portal : Log in using your registration credentials to access the online application system for Advertisement No. 07/2026.

• Select Post and Category : Choose the relevant Assistant Teacher (Trained Graduate Teacher - TGT) post, subject, and school category (Boys or Girls wing).

• Enter Details : Fill out all required personal, educational, and teacher eligibility test (TET) details accurately in English.

• Upload Photograph and Signature : Scan and upload your passport-size photo and signature in JPG or JPEG format (file size between 10 KB and 100 KB).

• Upload Supporting Documents : Upload all required educational mark sheets, training certificates, and category documents in PDF format (file size between 20 KB and 200 KB).

• Pay Examination Fee : Deposit the prescribed application fee securely through the online payment gateway options (credit/debit card, net banking).

• Final Submission : Review all entered details carefully and click the final submit button before the deadline of November 23, 2026.

• Print Confirmation : Download and print multiple copies of the final submitted application form and payment receipt to keep for future records and document verification.

Selection Process

The selection process for the UPESSC Assistant Teacher (Trained Graduate Teacher - TGT) Recruitment consists of the following consecutive stages:

1. Written Examination :

   • A 360-mark objective-type written test comprising 120 multiple-choice questions (30 on General Knowledge and 90 on the concerned subject) conducted over a duration of 2 hours.

   • Each correct answer awards 3 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect or multiple-choice answer (negative marking).

2. Document Verification :

   • Candidates shortlisted based on the written examination merit list are called to verify their original educational certificates, training qualifications, TET certificates, and category documents.

3. Medical Fitness Test :

   • Shortlisted candidates must undergo a mandatory health and medical examination by a government hospital or primary health center medical officer to obtain a fitness certificate.

4. School Allotment & Final Recommendation :

   • Final selection, institution preferences, and school allotment are handled by the authorized officer (Director of Secondary Education, UP, Prayagraj) based on merit ranking and fulfillment of all eligibility criteria.
