  • Graduation with three (3) years’ experience as Stenotypist or Judgment Writer or Stenographer in any government office or reputed organisation.
  • Candidates must be having speed of 100 W.P.M., in English Stenography and accurate transcription of the matter dictated within a period of 5 times to the time allotted for dictation and typing speed, in English, at 50 W.P.M., on computers, wherefor a separate test shall be held.
  • Provided that only 10% of the mistakes in transcribing the dictated matter and typed matter in typing test shall be allowed. In other words, the candidates committing more than 10% mistakes in transcribing the dictated matter and the typed matter in typing test shall be declared as unqualified.
  • Recruitment on the basis of competitive examination as per Schedule-IV (Part-H) of the “R&P Rules, 2015.”
  • The appointment to these posts is subject to the outcome of CWP No. 6948 of 2025 titled as Hemant Kumar Sharma vs. High Court of H.P. and anr., and CWP No. 7805 of 2025 titled as Anil Kumar vs. High Court of H.P. and another.

How to Apply?

  • Step 1 : Review Rules & Eligibility — Read the "R&P Rules, 2015" and ensure you meet all essential educational qualifications, experience criteria, and age limits as of 01 January, 2026.

  • Step 2 : Access Recruitment Portal — Visit the official Himachal Pradesh High Court recruitment portal at https://highcourt.hp.gov.in/ or https://www.hphcrecruitment.in/login.

  • Step 3 : Prepare Scanned Documents — Keep scanned copies of your recent color photograph (20–50 KB), signature (10–20 KB), Matriculation certificate as age proof (100–500 KB), ID proof (100–500 KB), and other essential certificates/experience documents (100 KB to 2 MB in PDF format) ready before applying.

  • Step 4 : Register and Fill Online Application — Complete the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) form on the portal by entering your correct details and uploading the required documents.

  • Step 5 : Pay Examination Fee — Pay the required application fee exclusively through online mode (Rs. 450 for UR, Rs. 300 for reserved categories of H.P.) before 11:59 PM on 07 November, 2026.

  • Step 6 : Preview and Save Confirmation — Preview the completed application form carefully, submit it, and take a printout or screenshot of the final submission for your records.

Selection Process

  • Competitive Examination — Candidates must undergo a competitive examination process as outlined in the recruitment rules 

  • Stenography Test — Candidates must possess and demonstrate an English shorthand speed of 100 W.P.M. with accurate transcription of the dictated matter within a period of 5 times the time allotted for dictation.

  • Typing Test — A separate computer typing test in English at a speed of 50 W.P.M. is conducted.

    • Note: Only up to 10% mistakes are allowed in both the transcription and the typing test; candidates committing more than 10% mistakes are declared unqualified.

  • Document Verification (DV) — Shortlisted candidates must present their original certificates, testimonials, and documents (which were successfully uploaded during online application) for verification.
