Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality Requirements : Citizen Status : The applicant must be a citizen of India.

• General Statutory Rules : Applicable Rules : Candidates must hold the qualifications/eligibility prescribed under the Bihar State School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action, and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023 (as amended up to date).

• Paper-I (Secondary - Classes 9 to 10) Academic & Training Qualifications : General Subjects : Graduation or post-graduation (or equivalent) in the specific subject/subject group with at least 50% marks from a recognized university, and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from an NCTE-recognized institution (or 45% marks as per specified old regulations); alternatively, a 4-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. degree.

• Paper-I Subject Group Specifics (Mathematics) : Math Eligibility : Graduation with Mathematics along with any two of Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Chemistry, or Statistics, or an Engineering degree with Mathematics specialization (BCA qualification in Computer Science is also included).

• Paper-I Subject Group Specifics (Science) : Science Eligibility : Graduation with Zoology (Animal Science), Botany, and Chemistry, or an Engineering degree with Science specialization, including Biotechnology and Microbiology.

• Paper-I Subject Group Specifics (Social Science) : Social Science Eligibility : Passed graduation with any two subjects out of History, Geography, Economics, and Political Science under subsidiary/honors, with History or Geography being mandatory (Ancient History is treated as equivalent to History).

• Paper-I Subject Group Specifics (Language Subjects) : Language Eligibility : Must have studied the respective language subject at the graduation level as an Honors or Subsidiary/Ancillary subject.

• Paper-I Special Categories (Physical Education) : Physical Education Eligibility : Graduation in Physical Education with 50% marks (or 40%-45% with sports participation/NCC 'C' certificate/3-year B.P.Ed./teaching experience as specified in the rules).

• Paper-I Special Categories (Music, Fine Arts, Dance, Special Teacher) : Fine Arts & Special Education Eligibility : Graduation degree in Music/Fine Arts/Dance with minimum 50% marks, or graduation with special education B.Ed. and valid CRR number from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

• Paper-II (Higher Secondary - Classes 11 to 12) Academic & Training Qualifications : General Subjects : Post-graduation in the specified subject with at least 50% marks from a recognized university and a B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution (or 45% marks as per old regulations, or 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.).

• Paper-II Subject Group Specifics (Commerce) : Commerce Eligibility : Post-graduation in Commerce with at least 50% marks from a recognized university along with general teacher-training qualifications (B.Ed.).

• Paper-II Subject Group Specifics (Computer Science) : Computer Science Eligibility : Minimum 50% marks in MCA/M.Sc. Computer Science, or B.E./B.Tech (CSE/IT), or 'A'/'B'/'C' 'DOEACC' level with graduation/post-graduation as specified (Note: B.Ed. is not mandatory for Computer Science candidates).

• Paper-II Subject Group Specifics (Agriculture) : Agriculture Eligibility : Graduation in Agriculture/Horticulture with at least 50% marks and post-graduation in specified sub-streams like Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Genetics, Entomology, etc.

• Minimum Age Requirement : Age Lower Limit : The candidate must be at least 21 years old as of August 1, 2026.

• Maximum Age Limit (Unreserved Male) : General Male Limit : Maximum age limit is 37 years as of August 1, 2026.

• Maximum Age Limit (Unreserved Female & Backward/EBC Categories) : Women & BC/EBC Limit : Maximum age limit is 40 years as of August 1, 2026.

• Maximum Age Limit (SC/ST Categories) : SC/ST Limit : Maximum age limit is 42 years as of August 1, 2026.

• Age Relaxation for Reserved Categories : State Residence Benefit : Relaxations in maximum age limit, passing marks, and application fees are exclusively applicable to permanent residents of Bihar.

How to Apply?

• Official Website Visit : Go to the official BSEB application portal at https://stetregistration.cbrt.co.in/.

• Registration & OTP Generation : Click on the registration link, fill in your basic details, and click the "Generate OTP" button to receive your User ID and Password via SMS/Email.

• Login to Portal : Use the generated User ID and Password to log in to the application portal.

• Form Filling : Fill out the remaining personal, academic, and other required details on the application form.

• Document Uploading : Scan and upload self-attested copies of required certificates (Matric/10th, Intermediate/12th, Graduation, Post-Graduation, B.Ed., etc.), along with a recent passport-size colored photograph (with a white/light background, 80 KB to 200 KB) and signature (50 KB to 200 KB).

• Review Details : Carefully review all entered information using the "Review" option before final submission, ensuring no errors are present.

• Fee Payment : Select "Online Payment", choose a preferred payment gateway, and pay the application fee using a Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

• Final Submission & Printout : Submit the completed form and take a final printout/save a copy of the submitted application and fee receipt for future reference.

Selection Process

• Online Application : Eligible candidates must submit their application forms and pay the application fee online through the official portal within the stipulated registration window.

• Computer Based Test (CBT) : The selection examination is conducted via a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

• Marking Scheme : Each question carries 1 mark, with a total of 150 questions (100 from the specified subject and 50 from teaching art and other skills), making the exam out of 150 marks.

• Negative Marking : There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in the examination.

• Normalization Process : Since the CBT is conducted across multiple shifts or dates, a normalization formula is applied to adjust for varying difficulty levels.

• Passing Marks & Certification : Candidates who clear the eligibility thresholds are awarded a passing certificate, which holds lifetime validity.
