Selection Process

Stage 1 : Application Screening – The Central Selection Board of Constable reviews all submitted forms to verify basic details and clear valid applicants for the examination.

Stage 2 : Main Written Examination – Candidates must sit for two objective OMR-based papers of 90 minutes and 100 marks each, where every correct answer awards 1 mark and every incorrect answer deducts 0.25 marks.

Stage 3 : Minimum Qualifying Cut-off – Applicants must clear separate 30% pass marks for both written papers to avoid immediate disqualification from the physical rounds.

Stage 4 : Physical Standard Test (PST) – Successful written exam candidates are shortlisted at a 1:3 ratio per category to test statutory height, chest size, and weight rules, which carry no marks but are strictly pass-or-fail.

Stage 5 : Document Verification (DV) – Candidates clearing the physical screening must immediately present original academic, residence, age, and caste certificates along with self-attested photocopies.

Stage 6 : Merit List Compilation – The final order of selection is built entirely on the aggregate normalized scores of the two written exam papers, using age and Hindi alphabetical order as tie-breakers.

Stage 7 : Medical Examination – Final shortlisted candidates undergo a mandatory health screening covering vision, color blindness, hearing capacity, and speech defects to declare definitive medical fitness.

Stage 8 : Character Verification – The appointment authority executes a thorough background and criminal record check before issuing the official joining letters.
