India men’s cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir’s post on X went viral after the team’s six-wicket win against New Zealand in the third T20I on Tuesday, which gave the visitors an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

Abhishek Sharma tore apart a hapless New Zealand attack with a breathtaking display of power-hitting that even left Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the shadows at times, as India cruised to a series-clinching six-wicket win.

Abhishek hammered a brilliant 113 off just 38 deliveries, bringing up his fifty in a mere 15 balls, as India chased down a challenging 199-run target with astonishing ease.

“Stay Humble,” Gambhir tweeted on Tuesday evening.

The series win would come as a big plus in Gambhir’s CV, after his team could only draw 2-2 in a five-match T20I series against West Indies earlier this month, with the decider being washed out.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell rediscovered his form with a blistering 89 off just 52 deliveries, but India’s bowlers held their nerve at the death to restrict New Zealand to 198/3 in 20 overs.

India captain Shreyas Iyer won his third successive toss and once again elected to field. Pacer Arshdeep Singh (1/33) gave India the perfect start, dismissing Tim Seifert, who fell to an ill-advised shot.

But Finn Allen (40 off 25 balls) and Mitchell added 86 for a counter-attacking second-wicket partnership.

Allen took the attack to Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0/40), smashing two sixes off the pacer, who continued to struggle to find the right length, as he has throughout the series.

Bhuvneshwar’s final over, the 18th over of New Zealand’s innings, was his most effective as he managed to nail his yorkers. The over could provide him with a much-needed confidence boost for the remainder of the five-match series.

Allen first smashed Bhuvneshwar over long-on and then pulled him over deep mid-wicket, even as Mitchell found his rhythm with the willow.
