Academic and Professional Requirements

A candidate must meet one of the following criteria :
10+2 / Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year Junior Basic Teacher (JBT) course or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) from an institute affiliated with the HP Board of School Education (HPBOSE)

OR
Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year JBT/D.El.Ed. (by whatever name known)

OR
Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks AND a 2-year JBT/D.El.Ed., in accordance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002. OR
Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).

OR
Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

OR
Graduation AND a 2-year JBT/D.El.Ed. (by whatever name known)

Post Graduation with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) AND a 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed..

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)

Candidates must have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala, or another agency authorized by the Government.

Note on Relaxations : A relaxation of up to 5% in the minimum qualifying marks for both educational qualifications and the TET is allowed for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and PWD categories.
Candidates must have passed their Matriculation (10th) and 10+2 from a school or institution situated within Himachal Pradesh
Exemption : This condition does not apply to candidates who are Bonafide Himachalis.

How to Apply

To apply for the post of Junior Basic Teacher (JBT) as per the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog (HPRCA) notification, you must follow a two-part process: One-Time Registration (OTR) followed by the Online Recruitment Application (ORA).

Step 1 : One-Time Registration (OTR)

Before you can apply for any specific post, you must create a permanent profile on the portal.

  • Sign Up : Go to the HPRCA website and click on "Sign Up" or "New Registration."
  • Verify Identity : Enter your active Email ID and Mobile Number. You will receive an OTP or activation link to verify these.
  • Create Profile: Log in with your new credentials and fill in your:
    • Personal Information : Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, etc.
    • Educational Qualifications : Details of Matric (10th), 10+2, JBT/D.El.Ed, and Graduation/PG if applicable.
    • Work Experience : If you have any relevant teaching experience.
  • Upload Documents: You will need scanned copies of:
    • Recent Photograph and Signature (Max 1MB, JPG/JPEG/PNG format).
    • Essential certificates (Matric for age proof, 10+2, JBT/D.El.Ed, and HP TET certificate).

Step 2 : Fill Online Recruitment Application (ORA)

Once your profile is 100% complete, you can apply for the JBT post.

  • Login : Access your dashboard using your User ID and Password.
  • Select Post : View the list of available job openings and click the "Apply" button corresponding to the Junior Basic Teacher (JBT) post.
  • Confirm Details : The system will automatically pull your data from your OTR profile. Review the information carefully to ensure it is accurate for this specific application.
  • Select Exam Center : Choose your preferred district for the examination from the dropdown menu.

Step 3 : Payment of Application Fee

  • Fee Amount : The standard fee is ₹800 for general categories (this includes the exam and processing fee).
  • Payment Mode : Pay online using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
  • Confirmation : Your application is only considered "Submitted" once the payment is successful.

Step 4 : Final Submission and Record Keeping

  • Submit : After payment, do a final review and submit the form.
  • Download PDF : Immediately download and print a copy of the submitted application form and the payment receipt. You will be required to produce these during the document verification stage.

Important Checklist

  • Correction Window : If you make a mistake, a 7-day correction window usually opens a few days after the closing date (subject to an additional fee of ₹100).
  • Mobile/Email : Do not change your registered mobile number or email until the recruitment process is fully completed, as all official communication (including Admit Card alerts) will be sent there.
  • Eligibility Date : Ensure you meet all educational and age requirements as of the closing date mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process

Written Examination (Computer-Based Test)

The primary stage of selection is a screening test which may be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) or a written objective screening test, depending on the Aayog's decision.

  • Total Marks : 100 marks
  • Duration : Two hours.
  • Question Format : 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with each question carrying 0.5 (half) mark.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates must meet a minimum score threshold in the written screening test to be considered for further stages:
  • General Category: 45% marks.
  • Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC/WFF): 40% marks.
  • Relaxation : If enough candidates do not meet these percentages to fill the advertised posts, the Aayog may relax these qualifying marks by a maximum of 5% (to 40% for General and 35% for reserved categories).

Document Verification

Candidates who qualify for the written test will be called for document verification.

  • Submission : Candidates must produce original certificates and self-attested photocopies of all documents uploaded during the application (e.g., Matric certificate for age, educational degrees/diplomas, TET certificate, and category certificates).
  • Eligibility Check : The Aayog will scrutinize these documents to determine the final eligibility of the candidates.
  • OBC/EWS/BPL Validity : Candidates in these categories must ensure their certificates are valid both at the time of the online application and on the date of document verification.

Final Result and Waiting List

  • Final Selection : The final result is prepared based on the performance in the written screening test and successful document verification.
  • Waiting Panel : A category-wise waiting list (panel) is also prepared, which remains valid for one year from the date the HPRCA sends its recommendations to the appointing authority. The size of the waiting list depends on the number of advertised posts (e.g., 25% for up to 25 posts).
