Anirudh Ravichander and Kavya Maran’s wedding: Sonia Gandhi, Nirmala Sitharaman invited to reception

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander and Sunrisers Hyderabad co-owner Kavya Maran are set to get married, with their wedding celebrations bringing together prominent names from politics, cinema and cricket. Their families have begun extending invitations for the wedding reception scheduled to take place in Chennai on November 21.

Sun TV Group chairman Kalanithi Maran has personally met Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to invite them to the reception.

On Friday, the official X account of Sun TV Network shared photographs of the meetings. In one post, Sonia Gandhi was seen receiving the wedding reception invitation from Kalanithi Maran, with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also present.

“In New Delhi, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi met and received the wedding reception invitation for Kavya Kalanithi Maran - Anirudh Ravichander from Sun TV Group Chairman Kalanidhi Maran. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi was present with Kalanidhi,” the post read.

In another post, Sun TV Network said Kalanithi Maran met Sitharaman in the national capital to present her with the reception invitation. He was accompanied by his wife, Kavery Kalanithi.

PM Modi, Revanth Reddy and Tamil Nadu CM also invited

The invitation list includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and former Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin.

Last week, Revanth Reddy publicly confirmed the reception plans after sharing photographs and videos of Kalanithi Maran and Kavery Maran meeting him at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

“Sun Group Chairman Shri Kalanithi Maran and his wife, Smt. Kavery Maran, met Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy at his residence in Jubilee Hills and invited him to the wedding reception of their daughter, Kavya Maran,” the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on X.

The post added that the reception would take place in Chennai on November 21.

Kalanithi and Kavery Maran have also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside Anirudh’s parents, actor Ravi Raghavendra and Lakshmi Ravichander, to extend an invitation. The Maran family also met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, to invite him to the reception, with Anirudh present during the meeting.

Anirudh hosts star-studded Navaratri puja at home

Amid the wedding celebrations, Anirudh’s home recently turned into a gathering place for several prominent names from Tamil cinema during a special Navaratri puja.

Social media visuals of the celebration circulated on October 22, 2026, showing several familiar faces from the film industry attending the festivities. Superstar Rajinikanth, actor Sivakarthikeyan, Shalini Ajith Kumar, director Nelson Dilipkumar, and actors Sneha and Prasanna were among those reported to have attended. Sivakarthikeyan’s wife, Aarthi, also reportedly joined the gathering.

Rajinikanth’s presence stood out given his long-standing professional association with Anirudh, who has composed music for several of the superstar’s films. Sivakarthikeyan, too, has collaborated with the composer on multiple projects.

Wedding celebrations planned in Greece

The couple are reportedly planning an intimate, two-day wedding celebration in Greece, likely to be held on November 10 and 11.

According to NDTV, the ceremony will be attended by close family members and a select group of friends. The report also clarified that the wedding will not take place in Santorini, contrary to earlier speculation about the venue.

The Maran family is reportedly overseeing arrangements for the guests, including flights, accommodation and local transportation. The report further stated that guests had been personally contacted, while printed invitations for the wedding in Greece had not been distributed at the time.

Anirudh’s uncle congratulated him on the wedding

In June 2026, Anirudh’s uncle and actor Y Gee Mahendra spoke about the composer’s upcoming wedding in an interview with KPTV.

“I would like to take this moment to congratulate him. He is getting into a very big wedding. Based on what I've been told, it's a sure thing. They are getting married,” he said.

Anirudh is one of the prominent music composers in Indian cinema, known for soundtracks for films including Leo, Indian 2, Vettaiyan, Vidaamuyarchi and Coolie.

Kavya is the daughter of Sun Group chairman Kalanithi Maran and is associated with Sun TV Network and the Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. She has become a familiar face among cricket fans through her appearances during IPL matches.
