Educational Qualification & Eligibility Criteria

1. General Eligibility Criteria

• PET-2025 Requirement : Candidates must have appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025) and have been issued a scorecard by the Commission. Candidates who obtained a zero, negative, or less than zero absolute/normalized score are ineligible for shortlisting.

• Age Limits (Calculated as of July 1st of the recruitment calendar year, unless stated otherwise) :

  • Minimum Age : Generally 18 or 21 years depending on the specific service rules of the department.

  • Maximum Age : 40 years.

  • Age Relaxation : Upper age limits are relaxable for reserved categories (such as SC, ST, and OBC) as per Uttar Pradesh government guidelines. Regular employees already serving within UP state government services or corporations receive specific relaxations (such as up to 5 years where applicable).

2. Post-Wise Educational Qualifications

• Groundwater Department, UP — Technical Assistant (Mechanical) (Special Selection) :

  • Requires a 3-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical Education Council, UP, or an equivalent diploma recognized by the Government.

• Headquarters Jail Administration & Reform Services, UP — Instructor Machine :

  • Requires passing the Intermediate examination from the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, UP, or an equivalent recognized exam, alongside a 3-year diploma in the Mechanical Maintenance trade from a government or recognized institution.

• UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), Lucknow — Assistant Storekeeper :

  • Requires a diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized polytechnic.

• UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), Lucknow — Mechanic :

  • Requires a 3-year diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering (Automobile) from a recognized polytechnic.

• Irrigation and Water Resources Directorate — Junior Engineer (Mechanical) (General & Special Selection) :

  • Requires either a diploma in Mechanical Engineering awarded by an institution/university established by law in India, a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical Education Council, UP, or a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from AICTE.

• Panchayati Raj Directorate — Assistant District Panchayat Raj Officer (Technical) :

  • Requires a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.

• Office of the Engineer-in-Chief, Public Works Department (PWD) — Junior Engineer (Mechanical) :

  • Requires passing the High School (Class 10) examination from the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, UP (or equivalent), and holding a 3-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical Education Council, UP, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

3. Preferential Qualifications (Adhimani Arhta)

For all advertised posts, if other things are equal, preference will be given to candidates who have :

1. Served in the Territorial Army for a minimum period of 2 years, OR

2. Obtained a National Cadet Corps (NCC) 'B' certificate.

• Note for UPSRTC Mechanic posts: Preference is also extended to candidates who possess a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.

4. Work Experience Requirement

• Across all 1156 vacancies included in this notification, no prior post-qualification work experience is mandatory. Holding the required technical diploma/qualifications and a valid PET-2025 score fulfills the baseline criteria to apply.

How to Apply?

• Step 1 : Check Eligibility & PET Score — Ensure you meet all educational and age criteria for your desired department and possess a valid scorecard from the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025).

• Step 2 : Visit Official Website — Go to the official Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) website at upsssc.gov.in.   

• Step 3 : Access the Advertisement — Navigate to the homepage, locate the "Live Advertisement Segment," and click on Advertisement No. 24-Exam/2026 for the Combined Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Main Examination.

• Step 4 : Candidate Authentication/Login — Log in using your PET-2025 registration number and authenticate via the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number or email.

• Step 5 : Select Post & Fill Details — Review your auto-populated personal details, select the specific department/post(s) you wish to apply for, and enter your educational qualification details.

• Step 6 : Submit & Get Registration Number — Enter the verification code, click "Submit" to view your completed application form preview, and note down your 11-digit registration number.

• Step 7 : Pay Application Fee — Pay the required online processing fee via Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or generate an SBI e-Challan by the deadline of November 25, 2026.

• Step 8 : Fee Reconciliation & Double Verification — If your fee status is pending or the form doesn't appear after payment, use the "Update Your Transaction ID by Double Verification" option on the homepage to reconcile the payment.

• Step 9 : Modify Application (If Needed) — Log in via your dashboard using your PET registration number and OTP to make any permitted corrections (such as address, category, or qualifications) up to the final amendment date of December 2, 2026.

• Step 10 : Print & Save Final Application Form — Download and print your final submitted application form after successful fee adjustment, and keep it safe for future document verification.

Selection Process

• Step 1 : Preliminary Eligibility Screening (PET-2025 Score) — Candidates must have appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025) and received a valid scorecard from the Commission. Candidates with zero, negative, or less than zero absolute/normalized scores are barred from selection.

• Step 2 : Shortlisting for Main Examination — Based on the normalized scores of PET-2025, the Commission shortlists candidates category-wise equal to approximately 15 times the total advertised vacancies (including all eligible candidates meeting the final cutoff mark to two decimal places).

• Step 3 : Written Examination (Main Exam) — Shortlisted candidates must appear for a single objective-type written examination consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 100 marks, with a time duration of 2 hours (120 minutes).

• Step 4 : Negative Marking Evaluation — Each correct answer carries 1 mark, while incorrect answers attract a negative marking penalty of 25% (i.e., 0.25 marks deducted) for that question.

• Step 5 : Document Verification & Final Merit — Candidates who qualify the written examination are called for document verification and record examination, where academic credentials, category proofs, and application details are verified before final selection.
