How to Apply?

• Step 1 : Check Eligibility Before Applying - Carefully read the eligibility criteria specified in Para C of the advertisement and ensure that you possess the prescribed educational qualifications, fulfill all other eligibility conditions, and verify whether your district of residence falls within the eligible districts specified in Annexure-I.

• Step 2 : Access Online Applications Only - Submit your application exclusively through the respective online apprenticeship portals specified in the advertisement, as hard copies, postal submissions, hand deliveries, or any other modes will not be accepted or entertained.

• Step 3 : Register and Apply Through NAPS - If you are applying for the trades, register and submit your application through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal of the Government of India at https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in starting from 29.10.2026, ensuring all registration details and educational qualifications are correctly entered before submission.

• Step 4 : Register and Apply Through NATS - If you are applying for the positions designated under NATS, register and submit your application through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal administered by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) at https://nats.education.gov.in starting from 29.10.2026, making sure all required details are accurately furnished.

• Step 5 : Monitor Official Portals and Email Regularly - Periodically visit the ONGC official website, the respective NAPS/NATS portals, and check your registered email addresses for any updates, notifications, corrigenda, instructions, or subsequent selection formalities relating to your application.

Selection Process

• Step 1 : Receipt and Consolidation of Applications - Upon the closure of the application window, ONGC authorities download, compile, and consolidate candidate details received through the NAPS and NATS portals, segregating the data trade-wise, discipline-wise, qualification-wise, and work-centre-wise according to the notified vacancies.

• Step 2 : Scrutiny of Applications and Preliminary Eligibility - Candidate details are rigorously scrutinized to verify eligibility against the conditions stipulated in the advertisement, including educational qualifications, age limits, relaxations, and apprenticeship scheme eligibility, while incomplete or duplicate applications are rejected.

• Step 3 : Preparation of Provisional Merit List - A provisional merit list is prepared separately for each relevant trade, discipline, and work centre based on the marks obtained in the prescribed qualifying examination, applying the older-age preference rule in the event of a tie.

• Step 4 : Shortlisting of Candidates for Document Verification - Based on the provisional merit list and available apprenticeship seats, candidates are shortlisted for document verification in a prescribed ratio determined by ONGC, with notifications published on the official website or communicated via registered email.

• Step 5 : Document Verification - Shortlisted candidates must produce their original certificates and self-attested copies—including birth proof, mark sheets, degrees/diplomas/ITIs, category certificates, and identity proof—for thorough verification at the notified venue.

• Step 6 : Finalisation of Merit List - Following successful document verification, a final merit list is finalized trade-wise, discipline-wise, and work-centre-wise, incorporating notified vacancies, reservation provisions, and tie-breaking criteria while dropping ineligible candidates.

• Step 7 : Application of Reservation Policy - Apprenticeship seat reservations are implemented strictly in accordance with applicable Government of India policies, statutory provisions, and verified category certificates.

• Step 8 : Publication of Results and Communication - The final merit lists and selected candidate results are published on the official ONGC website and communicated directly through registered email addresses.

• Step 9 : Offer of Engagement and Completion of Formalities - Selected candidates are instructed to complete engagement formalities within a stipulated timeline, including submitting declarations, confirming acceptance, and finishing contract registrations on the NAPS or NATS portals.

• Step 10 : Non-Reporting and Filling of Vacancies - If a selected candidate declines or fails to report within the designated period, their candidature is cancelled, and the vacancy may be filled by the next eligible candidate from the merit list following reservation rules.
