• i). A certificate in the respective trade from any Technical Institution recognized by Government OR VIII Std. passed with experience of one year in the respective trade.
• ii). Candidate who applied for the trade of M.V. Mechanic should possess a valid Driving Licence (HMV) to drive any vehicle in service in order to test it.

How to Apply?

• Check Eligibility : Verify that you meet the age limits (18 to 30 years for UR as of 01 July, 2018), educational, and technical/trade qualifications required for the specific post.

• Download Application Format : Obtain the prescribed application format provided at the end of the official notification.

• Fill Application Form : Fill out the application form correctly and completely on a plain paper in capital letters with all required details, including the specific trade applied for.

• Attach Passport Photograph : Affix a recent self-attested passport-size photograph on the application form and keep a second copy attached with it.

• Self-Attest Supporting Documents : Photocopy and self-attest all required certificates, including age proof, address proof, Indian citizenship, educational and technical qualifications (ITI), HMV driving license (for MV Mechanic only), 1-year trade experience certificate with full postal address, and relevant community/ESM certificates.

• Separate Envelopes for Multiple Trades : Prepare separate applications and individual envelopes if applying for more than one trade.

• Superscribe the Envelope : Write the specific post and trade applied for clearly on the outer envelope.

• Send via Speed Post : Dispatch the completed application along with self-attested documents exclusively through Speed Post to: The Senior Manager, Mail Motor Services, 139, Beleghata Road, Kolkata-700015.

• Meet the Deadline : Ensure your application reaches the designated address on or before 30 November, 2026 by 17:00 hours.

Selection Process

• Scrutiny of Applications : All received applications are thoroughly checked and scrutinized against the eligibility criteria, age limits, and required document attachments.

• Rejection of Incomplete Forms : Applications lacking self-attested documents, valid community certificates, proper experience letters on company letterheads, or containing errors are summarily rejected without notice.

• Issuance of Hall Permits : Eligible candidates who pass the application screening are issued Hall Permits/admit cards containing the date, venue, syllabus, and duration of the test.

• Competitive Trade Test : Candidates must appear for a Competitive Trade Test based on the syllabus of their respective trade.

• Driving Test (MV Mechanic Only) : Candidates applying for the Motor Vehicle (MV) Mechanic trade must possess and test-drive a vehicle using a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving license during the assessment.

• Final Merit & Selection : Final selection is determined based on qualifications, trade experience, community vacancies, and performance in the skill/trade test.
