Written Exam Pattern

• Online Registration : Visit https://cftri.res.in or https://recruitment.cftri.res.in to register with your name, email address, and mobile number to receive your User ID and password.

• Profile Completion : Log in for the first time using your credentials to complete and lock your profile details (such as basic info, category, PwBD/Ex-Serviceman status), noting that it cannot be modified afterward.

• Form Submission : Fill out all 7 tabs of the online application form, upload your scanned photograph, live photo, signature, and mandatory documents, then preview and submit to generate an Application Number.

• Fee Payment : Pay the non-refundable Rs. 500/- application fee via the SBI Collect link (exempted for SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen categories) and download the e-receipt.

• Upload Receipt : Enter your payment details and upload your e-receipt or transaction receipt on the portal on or before 18-11-2026 (11:59 P.M.).

• Print Application: Take a printout of the successfully submitted online application form by 11:59 p.m. on 18-11-2026, sign it at designated places, and attach your photograph, self-attested copies of certificates, mark sheets, and fee e-receipt.

• Where to Send Hard Copy : Pack the signed application form and all self-attested documents in an envelope superscribed with "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF _______", "Post Code ______" 'Advertisement No. Rec.02/2026' and send it by speed post or registered post only to reach on or before 26-11-2026 to: Recruitment Section (E-I Section), CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Cheluvamba Mansion (Opposite to Rail Museum), Mysuru 570020, Karnataka.

Selection Process

• Application Screening : Submitted online applications and documents are initially scrutinized by a duly constituted Screening Committee to shortlist eligible candidates based on criteria set by the Institute.

• Trade Test (Qualifying in Nature) : Shortlisted candidates are called for a practical Trade Test in their respective trade. This test is strictly qualifying in nature.

• Competitive Written Examination : Candidates who qualify the Trade Test are invited to appear for an OMR-based or Computer-Based objective type written examination consisting of three papers :

  • Paper-I (Mental Ability Test - 50 Questions / 100 Marks) : Qualifying in nature with no negative marking.

  • Paper-II (General Awareness & English Language - 50 Questions / 150 Marks) : Evaluated only if the candidate clears the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I. Features negative marking (1 mark deducted for every wrong answer).

  • Paper-III (Concerned Subject/Trade - 50 Questions / 150 Marks) : Evaluated alongside Paper-II. Features negative marking (1 mark deducted for every wrong answer).

• Final Merit List & Document Verification : The final merit list is prepared solely based on the marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III, followed by document verification for final selection.
