1. Overview of Vacancies & Eligibility

• Name of Posts : Senior Resident / Tutor (3-Year Tenure)

• Total Number of Vacancies : 575 Posts

• Pay Scale : After appointment to the tenure post, doctors will receive a consolidated honorarium of Rs. 1,15,000/- per month. Doctors already in service under the Bihar Health Services Cadre will receive their existing pay along with Dearness Allowance and other admissible allowances.

• Nationality : The applicant must be a citizen of India.

• Age Limit (as of 01 August, 2026) :

  • Unreserved (Male): 37 years   

  • Backward Class & Extremely Backward Class (Male & Female): 40 years

  • Unreserved (Female): 40 years

  • Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe (Male & Female): 42 years

  • Relaxations: Bihar Health Services Cadre members get a 5-year age relaxation category-wise. Disabled candidates are eligible for a 10-year age relaxation (only one type of relaxation applies).

2. Educational Qualifications & Requirements

• General Medical Qualifications :

  • In accordance with the latest guidelines of the NMC under the Medical Institutions (Qualification of Faculty) Regulation, 2025, DNB / DNB Super Speciality will be considered a valid qualification for selection to the post of Senior Resident / Tutor.

  • The minimum educational qualification for Senior Resident / Tutor posts is a Postgraduate Degree (MD/MS) in the respective subject.

  • In case of a shortage of eligible candidates with a PG degree, candidates with a Diploma in the specific subject may be considered, awarded 10 marks equivalent to a PG degree, but their placement in the merit list will remain below those with a postgraduate degree.

• Non-Medical Faculty (Anatomy & Physiology) :

  • A Medical Master of Science (M.Sc.) along with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is compulsory.

• Distribution of Posts by Source :

  • 40% of the posts will be filled by members of the Bihar State Health Service Cadre.

  • 40% of the posts will be filled by doctors who completed their postgraduate degree course from state medical colleges (under the Residency Scheme).

  • Remaining 20% of the posts will be filled by doctors who obtained their postgraduate degree (Residency Scheme) from recognized institutions outside the state.

4. Experience & Evaluation Criteria for Merit

• Work Experience Points :

  • Government / Semi-government work experience within the State of Bihar: 2 marks per completed year (Maximum up to 10 marks).   

  • Regular/contractual government experience is valid; academic course/fellowship/training experience does not count. As per Supreme Court judgment (Civil Appeal No. 9482/2019), experience from all government/non-private medical institutions (including Central Govt, Panchayat, or Municipal corporations) is recognized.

• Scoring Breakdown for Merit List :

  • MBBS University Exams Total Marks : Above 70% gets 5 marks, >65% gets 4, >60% gets 3, >55% gets 2, >50% gets 1.

  • Speciality Subject Marks (MCI recommendations) : Above 70% gets 5 marks, >65% gets 4, >60% gets 3, >55% gets 2, >50% gets 1.

  • MD / MS in Speciality : 10 marks.

  • Ph.D. / DM / M.Ch. in same Speciality : 10 marks.

  • Work Experience : Up to 10 marks.

  • Interview / Equal Marks : Provision for interviews has been abolished; hence 06 marks are uniformly awarded to all candidates.

  • Minimum Qualifying Marks : 16

How to Apply?

• Step 1 : Download Prospectus & Portal Access — Visit the official website bceceboard.bihar.gov.in to download the prospectus and click on the "Online Portal of Senior Resident / Tutor under Health Dept." link, then select "Apply for Senior Resident/Tutor" and click "New Registration".

• Step 2 : Complete Registration (Step-One) — Fill in all correct personal, mobile number, and email details, verify both via the separate verification codes sent to them, and note down your generated Registration Number and Password.

• Step 3 : Department Selection (Step-Two A) — Sign in to your account using your Registration Number and Password, select the specific department you want to apply for, and click "Save & Continue".

• Step 4 : Personal Information & Contact Details (Step-Two B & C) — Fill out your required personal entries followed by your permanent and correspondence addresses on the screen, clicking "Save & Continue" after each section.

• Step 5 : Educational Information & Uploads (Step-Two D & E) — Submit your educational qualification details and upload scanned copies of your high-contrast color photograph and signature according to the portal's specifications, then click "Save & Continue".

• Step 6 : Preview and Final Submission (Step-Three) — Review all entered details carefully on the preview page, use the "Back to Edit" button to fix any anomalies if found, and finally click "Final Submit & Proceed to Payment" after giving the declaration.

• Step 7 : Pay Counselling Fee (Step-Four) — Complete the online payment of Rs. 2,250/- for Unreserved/EWS/EBC/BC/SC/ST/DQ candidates using a Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

• Step 8 : Download Confirmation Page & Verification Slip (Step-Five) — Download and print the Confirmation Page, Fee Receipt, and 2 copies of the Verification Slip (जाँच-पर्ची) immediately after a successful transaction for future use and document verification.

Selection Process

• Step 1 : Submission of Online Application — Candidates must successfully complete online registration, fill out all required details, upload scanned photographs and signatures, and submit the application form on the official website before the deadline.

• Step 2 : Payment of Counselling Fee — Pay the required counselling fee of Rs. 2,250/- online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI within the stipulated dates.

• Step 3 : Document Verification & Counselling Schedule — The board will publish the program date for document verification and counselling, which candidates must attend in person.

• Step 4 : Production of Original Documents — During counselling and document verification, candidates must produce all original certificates along with one self-attested photocopy, the downloaded confirmation page, and two copies of the verification slip (जाँच-पर्ची).

• Step 5 : Merit List Preparation — A comparative merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in MBBS university exams, specialty subject marks, postgraduate degrees/diplomas, higher qualifications (Ph.D./DM/M.Ch.), and valid government work experience (up to 10 marks), along with a uniform allocation of 6 marks since interviews have been abolished.

• Step 6 : Final Selection and Allotment — Final selection is made based on the merit list and eligibility verification, after which the department's decision regarding final posting and appointment is final.
