Vaibhav Sooryavanshi creates history, breaks Abhishek Sharma's all-time Indian record

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created history during the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (May 19) as he played another impactful knock. The 15-year-old has 43 sixes this season, which is the most by an Indian player in history.

The 15-year-old gave the Royals a quick start after Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first. The opening batter made 46 runs in just 21 balls as his team posted 75 runs in the powerplay. His knock included five boundaries and three sixes.

Andre Russell is second on the list with 52 sixes during the 2019 edition of the tournament, while Jos Buttler smashed 45 sixes in 2022.

Buttler's tally remains an all-time record for the most sixes hit by an RR player in a single edition. With a minimum of two matches still left (even if they do not qualify for the playoffs), it will be a big surprise if he does not break the record.
