Daler Mehndi gets apology from Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal after performance controversy: report

Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal has apologised to veteran singer Daler Mehndi following the controversy over the latter’s interrupted performance at a religious event in the state.

The apology was reportedly conveyed over a phone call. Mika Singh’s team later welcomed the gesture and said they hoped the issue could now be put to rest.

The controversy began after Daler’s performance at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair was interrupted by the minister, who allegedly accused the singer of being under the influence of alcohol and lip-syncing during the Navratri event.

Mika Singh’s Team Welcomes Subodh Uniyal’s Apology

According to IANS, Mika Singh’s team issued a statement after the telephonic conversation between Subodh Uniyal and Daler Mehndi.

“We appreciate that Subodh Uniyal ji has apologised to Daler Mehndi paaji over a telephonic conversation regarding the unfortunate incident. Respecting artists and their dignity is extremely important. Daler paaji is a senior artist who has contributed immensely to the music industry, and every artist deserves to be treated with respect,” the statement read.

The team also indicated that they did not want the controversy to continue any further.

“We hope this matter can now be put behind us and everyone can move forward with mutual respect and understanding,” the statement added.

Mika Singh Says Daler Mehndi Does Not Want To Drag The Matter

The latest development comes after Mika Singh said on Friday that Daler did not want to prolong the controversy.

Mika had earlier revealed that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had spoken to both brothers and apologised on behalf of Subodh Uniyal.

Speaking exclusively to IANS, Mika also said the Chief Minister invited him and Daler to Uttarakhand. According to the singer, they intend to visit the state for a performance in the near future.

Mika later spoke about his conversation with Dhami during a press conference and praised the way the Chief Minister handled the issue.

“Just this morning, I spoke with my elder brother, dear friend, and someone I hold in high regard, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami. Whenever I visit Dehradun, he meets me with great warmth and is extremely down-to-earth,” Mika said.

He added, “The way he communicated with Daler Paaji and me was very polite and humble. He offered an apology on behalf of the Minister, and though I told him it wasn’t necessary since he made no mistake.”

The controversy erupted following Daler Mehndi’s appearance at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in Uttarakhand.
