52-Year-Old Rahul Dravid Returns To Cricket, Plays With Son Anvay; Dismissed For...
Rahul Dravid made his on-field return and he turned up in a KSCA league game along with his son, Anvay Dravid. Rahul has two sons, Anvay and Samit. Both of them are cricketers. Samit is an all-rounder while Anvay is a wicketkeeper-batsman. Rahul also kept wickets for a certain period in his career.
Anvay recently represented Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. He has led his state team in U-14 cricket. Samit has also played age-group cricket for Karnataka. His success in junior cricket saw him get selected in the India U-19 cricket team for the home series against Australia in 2024 but he was ruled out due to an injury.
Rahul Dravid dismissed early
Rahul didn't have a memorable outing as he was dismissed early in the league game. Rahul, who is one of the two Indian batsmen with more than 10000 runs in Tests and ODIs, was dismissed for 10 runs. Anvay shone with the bat and he played a 58-run knock.
Rahul making his on-field return to play with his son would have been a dream come true for Anvay. Unlike many other cricketers, Rahul has stayed away from the on-field action since his retirement and he hasn't featured in any Legends League.
He took up commentary and coaching after retiring from international cricket. Dravid coached India's junior team for nearly 4 years before becoming NCA's chief. He coached Team India from 2021 to 2024.
He also worked as the head coach of Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2014 and 2015 before moving to Delhi Capitals. Rahul made his return to RR after the end of his India stint and he is set to spearhead their coaching staff once again.
Dravid will work with Kumar Sangakkara, who has had a decent stint as RR's coach. RR haven't won the elusive trophy since their IPL 2008 triumph.
