Content creator Shresta Iyer, sister of Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, has opened up about her protective bond with her brother after her brief stint on Lock Upp 2.
Shresta, who became the first contestant to be eliminated from the reality show, had repeatedly said during her time inside the show that she wanted to build her own identity beyond being known only as Shreyas Iyer’s sister.
She told Filmygyan, Shresta admitted that she is extremely possessive about her brother. When asked if girls had ever tried to befriend her only to get close to the cricketer, Shresta said it had happened several times.
She said, “Many girls have tried it, but I understood their intention, and at that point, I used to distance myself from them.”
Shresta explained that she feels women are often able to read other women’s intentions better. Because of this, she believes she can help Shreyas when it comes to choosing the right partner.
She said, “I am very possessive about my brother. I want the right girl for him. And obviously he will choose the girl, but obviously he will ask me. He will definitely ask for my opinion, I hope so. At that time, I will give my opinion whether I like her or not, because only a girl can understand a girl. Men say that they can understand other men’s intention. Similarly, a girl can understand another girl's intention.”
While Shreyas is known for his cricketing career, Shresta has been trying to carve her own space as a content creator and public personality.
Shresta’s journey on Lock Upp 2 came to an end during the first elimination round. She was reportedly in the unsafe zone along with Akanksha Chamola, Madhuri Jain Grover, Sufi Motiwala and Shreya Kalra. After the elimination process, Shresta was voted out of the show.
After her exit, Shresta shared a heartwarming video of herself returning home. The clip showed her family watching the show on television before she entered the house with her suitcase. As soon as they saw her, they broke into a celebratory dance, and Shresta happily joined them.
Sharing the video, she wrote, “Very happy to be back home right where I truly belong.”
Fans also sent her supportive messages after her exit. One fan wrote, “You are a queen. Proud of you - you shine on your own & have a pure heart of gold.” Another commented, “Welcome back and we are proud of you.” A third fan wrote, “Really proud of you 😍 you deserve the best, welcome home dear you killed it.”
The first season of Lock Upp was hosted by Kangana Ranaut, while Lock Upp 2: Sach Ya Sazaa is hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. The new season is streaming on Netflix.
