Ameesha Patel made one of the biggest Bollywood debuts with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000) opposite Hrithik Roshan. The blockbuster instantly turned her into a household name.

The blockbuster instantly turned her into a household name. She followed it up with the Telugu hit Badri and the all-time blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001.

After her dream start, Ameesha's career lost momentum. Films such as Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage, Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar, Aap Ki Khatir, Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai, Tathastu, Teesri Aankh, Shart: The Challenge, Suno Sasurjee, Vaada, Elaan and Zameer struggled at the box office.

In July 2004, Ameesha Patel sent a legal notice to her father, Amit Patel, accusing him of mismanaging her finances and assets allegedly worth around Rs 12 crore. She sought recovery of the money, bringing her private family dispute into the public eye.

Ameesha Patel dated filmmaker Vikram Bhatt for nearly five years after they worked together. Their relationship remained one of Bollywood's most talked-about romances before the couple eventually parted ways in 2008.

Following her split from Vikram Bhatt, Ameesha Patel reportedly dated London-based businessman Kanav Puri. The two were often seen together before eventually ending their relationship after a few years.

Although she appeared in films such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Ameesha largely stayed away from lead roles as the industry evolved around her.

More than two decades after Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Ameesha returned as Sakeena in Gadar 2 alongside Sunny Deol. Released in 2023, the film became one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and brought her back into the limelight.

While Ameesha has played several roles over the years, Sonia from Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and Sakeena from the Gadar franchise continues to be the character audiences associate with her the most. The sequel helped introduce the iconic role to a new generation of viewers.

After the blockbuster success of Gadar 2, Ameesha Patel has confirmed that Gadar 3 is in the works. The actress has said the next instalment will be mounted on a bigger scale with a stronger script
