Indian Railways responds after viral 'samosa' video sparks outrage

We are moving on now. Bizarre incident from India state of Madhya Pradesh has gained traction. The incident involves an alleged train halt as a pit stop for popular Indian snack, samosas. But officials of the Western Railway tells a different story. A viral video recorded by passengers and onlookers show a railway official getting off a train and purchasing samosas from a nearby vendor. The claims on social media alleged that the local pilot halted the train, then got down to buy samosas and then the train resumed its journey once he returned. The incident took place near Indore in Madhya Pradesh. As the video gained traction, Western Railways first responded saying that the video has been escalated to relevant officials to investigate. However, the department soon clarified that the video was misleading. West Railways posted a long statement on social media platform X along with a fact check on the viral video. The agency says that it was in fact a goods train not a self-propelled passenger train. Secondly, West Railways also said that the train in question was already halted at the spot due to engineering work that was underway at the local yard. Railway officials said that the local pilot in the video stepped out to purchase snacks as the train was stationary owing to track work.
