Anand Mahindra recommends this Kerala dosa spot, thanks to his ‘dosa fanatic’ grandson

Anand Mahindra may not usually recommend travelling to a destination solely for its food, but a dosa-loving grandson appears to have changed his mind.

The Mahindra Group chairman recently took to X to recommend Chutney Maami, a vegetarian restaurant in Pulimath near Kilimanoor in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His reason? His grandson is, in his words, a “dosa fanatic”.

“I don’t often recommend travelling to locations solely for a culinary experience… Maybe this one is because my grandson is visiting & he’s a dosa fanatic,” Mahindra wrote, turning a simple food recommendation into a rather charming family food story.

He even imagined taking his family to the Kerala restaurant for a Sunday meal, joking that he would like to “teleport” them there.

And when teleportation proved to be less than practical, Mahindra had another idea: an inter-state drone delivery service.

“Or perhaps Swiggy or Zomato could start an inter-state drone delivery service…” he quipped, while acknowledging that the dosa would probably “wilt” somewhere along the journey.

Chutney Maami?

Located in Pulimath on the Kazhakoottam-Kilimanoor Road in Thiruvananthapuram district, Chutney Maami is a vegetarian restaurant specialising in South Indian fare.

For dosa enthusiasts, the menu offers several familiar favourites, including plain dosa, masala dosa, ghee masala dosa, ghee podi dosa and ghee roast, alongside a range of other vegetarian dishes.

Mahindra’s post has now put the relatively local eatery on the radar of a much wider audience. What began as a recommendation sparked by his grandson’s love for dosa has become an unexpected travel proposition, with a little family nostalgia and an imaginary drone delivery service thrown in.

For now, though, anyone craving Chutney Maami’s dosa may have to make the journey to Kerala the old-fashioned way.
