Best IQ award? LSG anger KKR fans with honour for Shami for Raghuvanshi dismissal

Mohammed Shami has been given a special award by the Lucknow Super Giants for his part in the controversial dismissal of Angkrish Raghuvanshi during the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders. Shami was given the IQ award for the best tactical moment in the game.

Raghuvanshi was adjudged out for obstructing the field during Kolkata Knight Riders' clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, April 26. The young batter was struck on the pads by a throw from Mohammed Shami in the final over of the innings while trying to make his way back into the crease.

Although Raghuvanshi had safely grounded his bat, LSG went up in appeal, claiming obstruction. After reviewing the incident, the TV umpire ruled in their favour and declared the KKR batter out for obstructing the field.

Lance Klusener gave away the award and claimed that Shami got a wicket as Raghuvanshi was just trying to get home. The award also came the way of the pacer for hitting a last-ball six he hit to push the game into a super over.

"Somebody who threw the ball at another player running home and got a run out and cool under pressure hit the last ball for 6 to get us into a into a super over," said Klusener.

KKR FANS ANGERED BY LSG GESTURE

The recognition for Shami didn't sit well with the KKR fans, who continued to slam Rishabh Pant for not taking back the appeal. They called the gesture from Lucknow shameful.

Raghuvanshi was left fuming after the game and his remonstrations earned him a hefty fine. The KKR youngster was fined 20 percent of his match fee after his animated reaction to the controversial dismissal against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026. The youngster was also handed one demerit point for breaching the league's Code of Conduct.

KKR ended up winning the match via Super Over to secure their second win of the campaign.
