Surya Kumar Yadav Salutes His 'Forever Hero' Dad On His Retirement Day
India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has posted a heartwarming retirement note for his father, Ashok Kumar Yadav, who recently bid adieu to his professional life.
The Mumbai Indians star, who is now gearing up to play the IPL Eliminator against the Gujarat Titans, appears to be greatly inspired by his dad, whom he called his “first and forever hero, role model, life manual and guide.”
Ashok Kumar was reportedly working as an electric engineer at BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre).
Surya congratulated his father on ending a successful professional career while also wishing the best for the “next innings.”
“An important innings comes to an end for you, and you have always hit it out of the park, with every role you took. A simple man who left no stone unturned to give us an extraordinary life.”
“Let us tell you today, how incredibly proud we are of you and your accomplishments. Time to gear up for the next innings, Dad, a slightly relaxed one,” he added.
His post also featured a beautiful family picture, with everyone posing with Ashok Kumar Yadav on his last day at the office. Surya, his wife Devisha Shetty, and mother Swapna Yadav were part of the frame. A felicitation ceremony was also planned as the organisation gave a special farewell to the veteran engineer.
Suryakumar Yadav has been in explosive form in this IPL, with the Mumbai Indians pushing for their sixth title. The five-time champions pulled off some exciting wins in the second half of the league stage to punch their tickets to the playoffs.
Surya, a key component of the MI unit, deserves much credit for their dominant comeback. The right-hander has emerged as a top contender for the Orange Cap this season. He remains third on the top-scorer tally, having registered 640 runs in 14 games at an exceptional average of 71.11. He has scored five fifties while batting at a strike rate of over 167.
Having finished fourth in the league stage, Mumbai are now in a do-or-die situation. They must beat Gujarat to stay alive in the title race. The winner of the Eliminator will meet the loser of Qualifier 1 to decide the second finalist.
